How much will it cost to have my Nest Learning Thermostat professionally installed?

The cost of Nest Certified professional installation depends on the complexity of your heating and cooling system and where you live. A basic installation may cost $99-$250, while a more advanced installation can range from $200-$300.

In most homes, installing a Nest Learning Thermostat is simple: a Nest Certified Professional removes the old thermostat, installs the Nest Thermostat, and takes a few minutes to configure the Nest Thermostat to control your heating and cooling system. We call this a basic installation.

However dual-fuel systems or whole-home humidifiers, poorly placed thermostats, or inadequate wiring can make installing the Nest Thermostat a longer, more complicated process. These types of advanced installations are more expensive.

The cost of installation varies based on where you live (a tech visit and installation is often much more expensive in New York City than it is in Kansas City), the location of your thermostat in your home, and each installer’s pricing model.

Basic installation pricing:

Basic installations can cost $99-$250 for the first thermostat, and $25-$50 for each additional thermostat in the same location.

Your basic installation includes:

  • Scheduling an appointment during normal business hours, Monday-Friday.
  • Checking compatibility. If the Nest Thermostat is incompatible, you'll likely still be charged a trip fee. So be sure to check your compatibility here before scheduling. If your system requires an advanced installation, your installer is required to give you a quote before proceeding.
  • Removing your old thermostat and recycling it.
  • Installing your new Nest Learning Thermostat.
  • Providing a brief product intro and operation overview.
  • Connecting the Nest Thermostat to your Wi-Fi network or providing instructions so you can do it yourself.

Advanced installation pricing:

An advanced installation includes everything in the basic installation, plus anything from running a new wire to your thermostat to configuring a whole-home humidifier. Pricing depends on what service you need:
