Accessing your Nest Protect from the Nest app or the Web

With the Nest app or the Web you can control and get information on your Nest products if you have a computer, supported smartphone or tablet and an Internet connection. Just log in with your Nest Account to view the status and manage all the Nest Protects in your home.

Adding a new Nest Protect to your Nest Account

Nest Protect is added to your Nest Account during the setup process and can only be done using the Nest app on your smartphone or tablet.

If you're new to Nest

Tap the add Smoke + CO Alarm option from the Nest app home screen.

If you already own a Nest product

Tap the menu icon in the top right of the Nest app home screen while viewing the home where the Nest Protect will be installed.

Next, follow the on screen instructions to add your Nest Protect to your Nest Account.

Quick tips

View the status of your Nest Protects

To view the status of your Nest Protects, select the Protect icon on the Nest app or Web home screen.

All of your Nest Protects will appear here showing you any carbon monoxide or smoke alarms, battery and sensor status, as well as the date and time of the last test and Internet connection.

Click or tap on the Nest Protect icon to view the last reported status.

Nest Protect Settings

To get to your Nest Protect Settings, click or tap on the menu icon in the upper right corner of the Home screen and select Protect Settings from the list of options. From there, if you have more than one Net Protect associated with your Nest Account you'll need to select the one you'd like to update.

Where

Here you can edit the name of your Nest Protect and add an optional description to help you identify it.

Nest Sense

Here you’ll see status of the different Nest Protect features. You can turn On or Off Nest Wave, Pathlight, Nightly Promise, and Heads-Up.

Technical Info

View details about your Nest Learning Thermostat, including:

  • Model
  • Serial number
  • Software version
  • Battery life
  • Replace by date
  • Last update date
  • Wi-Fi MAC address
  • Wi-Fi IP address
  • 802.15.4 MAC address

Remove Nest Protect

Click or tap here if you’d like to remove the Nest Protect from your Nest Account.
